South Korea appoints former Naver CEO Han Seong Sook as prime minister to lead AI and economic growth strategy

Han Seong Sook, former Chief Executive of Naver, will become South Korea's second female premier, pending national assembly approval. President Lee Jae Myung selected her to help leverage the nation's tech expertise for future economic growth.

During her five years leading Naver (sometimes called the Google of Korea), Han expanded the company's revenue beyond its search engine business to include e-commerce, fintech, and content generation.

The appointment reflects Lee's strategy to strengthen domestic economic growth by drawing on a wider range of industries beyond traditional sectors.
