Cisco CPO predicts approximately 70% of product portfolio will be fully AI generated by end of 2027

Cisco Chief Product Officer Jeetu Patel stated that by the end of 2027, approximately 70% of Cisco's entire product portfolio will be fully built with AI and contain no human lines of code. Cisco's AI Defense product, unveiled in early 2025, was already built 100% with AI with no human lines of code.

85% of Cisco engineers are already using AI on a regular basis. Cisco is using OpenAI's Codex and Anthropic's Claude Code as coding agent platforms (AI tools that write code automatically) to drive development, with Patel noting that AI writing AI code creates a 'snowball effect' that accelerates the process.

Patel stated that humans will no longer be able to review all AI-generated code, requiring a shift to automated testing and outcome measurement instead. Each piece of code will still require a human to be assigned responsibility and provenance, even though that human may not understand the code itself.
