Meta shareholders reject 10 proposals at 2026 annual meeting; Zuckerberg outlines four AI opportunities including personal agents, business agents, and AI hardware

All 10 shareholder proposals were defeated by wide margins at Meta's 2026 annual meeting. Proposals covered AI data usage oversight (about 10% support), executive pay votes (about 27% support), recapitalization for one vote per share (about 26% support), voting results disclosure by share class (about 20% support), and others on human rights, hate speech, climate, child safety, data protection and H-1B visa risks (less than 1% to about 7% support each).

Zuckerberg said Meta's most important recent development was the launch of Meta Superintelligence Labs and its first model, Muse Spark. He stated Spark has made Meta AI 'a world-class assistant' with large increases in usage since its release, and identified four AI monetization opportunities: improving core products' ranking, recommendations and advertising; personal agents (free versions supported by commerce and ads, plus premium subscriptions); business agents with longer-term monetization models; and AI hardware including Ray-Ban Meta Optics glasses, whose daily users have tripled year over year.

Meta remains committed to returning capital to shareholders through quarterly dividends, which totaled $1.3 billion in the first quarter of 2026. The company had $25 billion remaining under its outstanding share repurchase authorization as of March 31, 2026, but did not repurchase shares in the first quarter of 2026 or the fourth quarter of 2025, citing AI investment as its highest priority use of capital.
