Over the past year, the author extended Forever✱Notes — a pattern for organizing Apple Notes using cross-note linking, tags, and a Heavy Asterisk character as an anchor point — with tools including Wispr Flow for voice dictation, Grammarly for spelling and grammar correction, Claude Cowork with Apple Notes MCP, Zoom AI-generated transcripts, and Google Drive + Gemini.

The system replaced a previous handwritten-notebook workflow that required 45+ minutes daily to summarize notes and produce weekly and monthly summaries. Forever✱Notes enables a daily note journal that rolls up into monthly, quarterly, and annual notes with annual rollover capability and interconnected links generated via Apple shortcuts.

The author reports the system began working immediately when set up during paternity leave, and finding ways to extend and improve it rather than abandon it indicated the approach was functioning as intended.
