SpaceX partners with Anthropic to provide access to Colossus 1 data center with over 220,000 Nvidia GPUs

SpaceX announced a partnership with Anthropic on Wednesday that grants the AI company access to SpaceX's Colossus 1 data center, which contains more than 220,000 Nvidia GPUs, to process AI workloads.

As a result of the partnership, Anthropic will allow customers to use more tokens per minute, increasing the computational capacity Claude can handle. The companies have also hinted at a larger opportunity: collaborating on building data centers in space, with SpaceX noting that 'the compute required to train and operate the next generation of these systems is outpacing what terrestrial power, land, and cooling can deliver on the timelines that matter.'

The partnership represents a significant win for Anthropic, OpenAI's biggest competitor, at a time when Elon Musk is publicly feuding with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
