What happened: Sakana AI released Sakana Marlin, a business research tool that works autonomously for up to roughly eight hours to produce detailed strategy reports up to a hundred pages long and executive summary slides. Users set a research topic, and the system independently forms hypotheses, gathers information, and verifies findings without further human input. The service is available on a pay-per-use basis and through monthly Pro, Team, and Enterprise plans.

Why it matters: The tool is designed to take on the kind of substantial strategy research that a Chief Strategy Officer and a small team might otherwise spend weeks on, freeing people to concentrate on high-value decision-making rather than research compilation. It was refined through a closed beta from April 2026 involving around 300 professionals from financial institutions, operating companies, consulting firms, and think tanks, who used it on real tasks such as strategy formulation, market research, risk analysis, and competitive analysis.
