Google Photos announces AI-powered digital closet feature to automatically organize clothes and create outfit combinations

Google Photos will roll out a new feature on Android later this summer, followed by iOS, that uses AI to automatically create a digital copy of your wardrobe from photos in your library, letting you filter items by category (tops, bottoms, jewelry, etc.) and mix-and-match to create outfits.

The feature will let you save outfit ideas to a digital moodboard organized by occasion (travel, events, date nights, work) and share combinations with friends; a separate function will let you virtually try on items to preview looks.

Google says the AI technology will make a digital closet—inspired by Cher's virtual wardrobe in the movie 'Clueless'—accessible to anyone, competing with existing apps like Acloset, Combyne, Pureple, Whering, and Alta.
