White House drafts guidance to restore federal agencies' access to Anthropic, including its Mythos model, after Pentagon supply chain risk dispute

The White House is drafting guidance and a potential executive action that would allow federal agencies to work with Anthropic again and access Anthropic's Mythos model. This move follows a dispute in which Anthropic refused to sign a Pentagon agreement that would have permitted use of its Claude model for 'all lawful purposes,' insisting instead on carving out bans on 'mass domestic surveillance' and 'fully autonomous weapons.'

White House chief of staff Susie Wiles and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei earlier this month to discuss the matter. The draft executive action could sidestep the Pentagon's supply chain risk designation of Anthropic.

OpenAI and Google have already signed similar deals with the Pentagon. The NSA is already using Mythos.
