AWS and OpenAI launch three new Bedrock offerings one day after Microsoft and OpenAI end Azure exclusivity deal

Microsoft and OpenAI restructured their partnership, ending Azure's exclusive distribution rights for OpenAI models. AWS subsequently unveiled three new offerings on Amazon Bedrock: OpenAI models on Bedrock, Codex on Bedrock, and Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI, all launching as limited previews.

Bedrock Managed Agents pairs OpenAI's frontier models with AWS infrastructure. Each agent runs inside the customer's environment with its own identity, logs every action, and handles all inference through Bedrock, operating alongside Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

GPT-5.4 is available now, and GPT-5.5 should follow within weeks, according to AWS CEO Matt Garman. The partnership was originally announced in February with an investment of up to $50 billion and an AWS compute commitment of $100 billion.
