Google announces voice features across Gmail, Docs and Keep, plus Google Pics image tool and Gemini Spark agent for Workspace

Google is rolling out conversational voice capabilities in Gmail, Docs and Keep to help users brainstorm, organize thoughts and take action by speaking. Gmail Live lets users search their inbox by voice (e.g., 'What's my flight's gate number?'), Docs Live acts as a thought partner to help draft documents faster, and Keep transforms spoken rambles into organized notes and lists.

Google Pics, built on the Nano Banana model, is a new image creation and editing tool with precise creative controls including object segmentation (move, resize or transform specific elements), text editing and translation, and integration with Workspace apps like Slides and Drive. Users can also collaborate on shareable canvases to edit the same image at the same time.

AI Inbox is expanding to Google AI Plus and Pro subscribers with new features: personalized draft replies, instant file access to relevant Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, and streamlined task management to mark tasks done or dismiss suggestions with a single click.

Gemini Spark, a 24/7 personal AI agent announced at Google I/O, transforms Gemini from a question-answering assistant to one that takes action on users' behalf—such as sending emails or adding calendar events—under user direction and with permission for high-stakes actions. Voice features and Google Pics roll out this summer to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and in preview to Google Workspace business customers; Gemini Spark will be available soon in preview for business customers in the Gemini app.
