Amazon Quick now supports direct querying of Apache Iceberg tables in Amazon S3 without intermediate data layers

Amazon Quick introduces Amazon S3 Tables (Apache Iceberg tables) as a new data source, enabling customers to directly query and visualize Apache Iceberg tables stored in an Amazon S3 table bucket without requiring intermediate data layers.

The feature supports both Direct Query and SPICE (Super-fast, Parallel, In-memory Calculation Engine) modes, allowing business users to analyze large-scale datasets in near real-time using natural language interactions without specialized machine learning expertise.

This architecture removes the need for separate data warehouses or OLAP systems, reduces operational complexity and infrastructure overhead, and minimizes data movement while enabling dashboards and analytics to reflect the most current data available.
