Japan's government to launch pilot program of Gennai AI platform for 180,000 civil servants across 39 agencies after Golden Week

The government is planning to launch a large-scale pilot program for Gennai, a generative artificial intelligence platform developed for internal use by civil servants, after the Golden Week holidays.

The initiative will make the platform available to about 180,000 government employees across 39 agencies, to be used to boost efficiency in administrative work such as documenting responses to lawmakers' questions in parliament.

The government hopes to accelerate AI adoption and encourage use and investments by the private sector amid criticism that the country has lagged behind other nations in embracing the technology.
