Digg relaunches as an AI news aggregator, tracking discussion and engagement signals from X in real-time.

Kevin Rose's Digg, which shut down in March after failing to differentiate itself from Reddit, previewed a redesigned version on Friday evening. This time the site focuses on ranking news—specifically AI news to start—rather than functioning as a community forum.

The new Digg ingests content from X in real-time and performs sentiment analysis, clustering, and signal detection to surface trending stories. It displays engagement metrics like views, comments, likes, and saves, and ranks the top 1,000 people involved in AI, as well as top companies and politicians focused on AI issues.

For users without time to track breaking AI news on X, Digg could serve as a useful resource. However, it remains unclear whether people would regularly choose Digg over their preferred news app, RSS reader, or X's 'For You' feed, especially since there is currently no discussion happening on Digg's site itself.
