Xi Jinping arrives in North Korea for summit with Kim Jong Un, delivers veiled criticism of Japan's military posture

Chinese President Xi Jinping is due to arrive in North Korea for a two-day trip and summit with leader Kim Jong Un on Monday, his first visit to North Korea in seven years.

In remarks carried by state media, Xi urged Pyongyang to join Beijing in rejecting "any scheme or action aimed at reviving militarism and undermining regional security and stability," characterizing this as a response to what Beijing calls Japan's "new militarization."

The visit comes as North Korea has increasingly turned to Moscow for support, a role traditionally held by Beijing, with the two countries seeking to rebuild ties.
