Anthropic closes $65 billion Series H round at $965 billion valuation, surpassing OpenAI as most valuable AI startup

Anthropic raised $65 billion from investors including Samsung, Micron, SK Hynix, Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, and Sequoia in its Series H funding round, valuing the company at $965 billion—more than double its $380 billion valuation in February.

The company unveiled Claude Opus 4.8, which Anthropic said outperforms all other publicly available AI platforms in a benchmark vibecoding test. Anthropic reported its revenue reached a run rate of $47 billion this month.

Amazon's stake in Anthropic—valued at roughly $60 billion before this round and potentially now more than double that—could make the company $60 billion richer on paper. Alphabet's investment, which could be worth more than $100 billion now, follows its pledge to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic on top of at least $13 billion already invested.

Anthropic plans to use the $65 billion to expand compute and scale products, with commitments including $100 billion on Amazon Web Services over the next decade and $200 billion on Google Cloud over five years.
