Apple unveils Siri AI powered by Google Gemini, iOS 27 support for iPhone 11 and newer, and new parental controls at WWDC 2026

Apple revealed an improved Siri assistant with Google Gemini under the hood, positioned as more capable, conversational, and compatible with visual intelligence, available in a standalone app and across existing apps.

iOS 27 will be available to devices from iPhone 11 onward, with Apple claiming new photos will appear 70 percent more swiftly and AirDrop transfers will be 80 percent faster compared to prior versions.

Apple introduced expanded parental controls allowing parents to determine who their child can call, what apps and websites they can access, with "Ask to Browse" and "Ask to Buy" set as defaults for devices configured for children younger than 13.

Craig Federighi, Apple Senior Vice President, emphasized that "data is only used to execute your request" and that outside experts can verify this privacy promise at any time.
