Dataiku launches Agent Management for cross-vendor AI agents

Dataiku's Agent Management launch targets a specific gap: most companies maintain detailed records of software ownership and license renewals, yet almost none can do the same for their AI agents. IBM research cited by Dataiku found fewer than one in five organizations keep a complete and current inventory of their AI systems, and Dataiku's own "Global AI Confessions Report: CIO Edition, 2026" — based on a Harris Poll survey of 685 CIOs at companies with over $500 million in annual revenue across eight countries — showed that while nine in 10 CIOs were confident in their agent tracking, 81% admitted they lacked complete oversight of agents built outside approved systems. Dataiku CEO Florian Douetteau illustrated the disparity by saying a bank can state its server count "to the decimal" but responds with "a shrug or a guess" when asked about its AI agents.

The product's cross-platform approach contrasts with monitoring tools built into a single vendor's stack, which Dataiku argues tend to favor that vendor's own agents. By sitting above every vendor's stack and connecting to Salesforce Agentforce, AWS, Microsoft, Google, Databricks, Snowflake and custom environments, Agent Management aims to answer portfolio-wide questions in plain language. Dataiku is also betting that governance demand will grow as agents proliferate: 84% of surveyed CIOs said employees build agents and applications faster than IT can govern them, and 76% said their role would be at risk if their company failed to show measurable business gains from AI by the end of 2027, with 72% expecting budget cuts or freezes if this year's targets are missed.

Whether Agent Management gains traction hinges on whether enterprises see enough value in a cross-vendor inventory to pay an annual per-instance fee on top of the platforms they already run. Dataiku is betting that the gap between perceived and actual agent oversight — what CIOs believe they track versus what they actually track — is large enough to justify a standalone purchase rather than relying on built-in vendor tools that may favor their own agents. The October general availability will be the first test of whether that bet holds.
