Glean CEO says thousands apply daily but lacks candidates with strong work ethic; advises Gen Z to master AI tools to stand out

Arvind Jain, co-founder of Glean (valued at $7.2 billion), receives thousands of job applications every day but says the primary differentiator among candidates who advance is work ethic, not degrees or credentials.

Jain argues that candidates who master AI tools can work at ten times the speed of those who haven't, and recommends Gen Z learn AI by experimenting directly with tools like Gemini or ChatGPT rather than taking lengthy courses.

Even at Glean, the team can only review around a fifth of the applications received due to resource constraints, placing the burden on applicants to make themselves stand out in an oversupscribed job market.
