OpenAI confidentially files for IPO, joining Anthropic and SpaceX in major tech debuts

OpenAI filed confidentially for an IPO on Monday, one week after Anthropic and ahead of SpaceX's expected public debut on Friday. The company is valued at more than $850 billion.

OpenAI has raised more than $180 billion and leads in user count. The company recently announced new tools for corporate customers, described as an admission that Anthropic's enterprise push has been successful.

OpenAI faces competition from Anthropic's Claude, Google's Gemini, and SpaceX (which merged with xAI in February and is poised to launch the largest IPO ever).
