Apple's upgraded Siri AI can now handle tasks like adding calendar events from emails and answering context-aware questions

Apple released a newly upgraded Siri AI that can add a list of events from an email to a calendar, put together shopping lists, set reminders, diagnose plant problems, and answer questions like 'When should I leave for the airport?' by referencing information in email and calendar.

Siri AI draws from an on-device pool of data indexed from email and messages; prompts that cannot be handled fully on device are sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute with only relevant pieces of personal data attached. The system is built on Gemini models.

This iteration of Siri supports a basic set of features and actually works as advertised, which Apple positions as earning back trust after previous AI Siri promises at WWDC did not materialize. The new version is currently in developer beta.
