Asymptote Labs released Beacon, an open-source memory layer for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and 20+ agent harnesses, launched on Product Hunt.
Why it matters
It captures session traces and turns them into reusable skills and security/behavior findings, so lessons from one engineer or tool can carry over to another.
Summaries like this, every morning.
Coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex can write good code, but each session starts fresh: debugging breakthroughs, failed approaches, and architectural decisions disappear when the session ends. Beacon addresses this by recording execution traces—commands, file changes, errors, and debugging paths—and extracting reusable knowledge. The system also closes the feedback loop: later traces show when saved knowledge stops working, so it can be updated or retired.
Beacon's cross-harness design means lessons from one tool can help another. A Claude Code debugging lesson can inform a Codex session, and Cursor discoveries can become skills in OpenCode. For teams, this matters even more: one engineer's hour-long infrastructure debugging can become a reusable skill for the next engineer, regardless of which agent they use. Beacon runs locally without a hosted backend, while Beacon Cloud adds hosted trace storage, cross-harness search, session analytics, and the hourly findings.
