
Infineon Technologies has joined NVIDIA's MGX AI Factory ecosystem to support NVIDIA's 800 VDC power architecture, an open, modular reference architecture for AI factories. Infineon's power management solutions will convert power from 800 V down to 50 V, 12 V, or 6 V.
Infineon's approach leverages silicon (Si), silicon carbide (SiC), and gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors. The company's GaN technology operates at switching frequencies close to 1 MHz for ultra-compact bus converters, while its SiC JFET technology supports protection and hot-swap functionality on native 800 V server boards.
NVIDIA's 800 VDC MGX-compatible power racks allow existing AI infrastructure to increase compute performance and power density without waiting for full-scale 800V DC AI factories, providing an upgrade path that protects current infrastructure investments while preparing for future workloads.
