
Nvidia introduced Vera, a CPU purpose-built for agentic AI (AI systems that autonomously complete assigned tasks), in March. Huang stated on Wednesday's earnings call that Vera opens a $200 billion TAM (total addressable market) Nvidia has never addressed before, and that every major hyperscaler and system maker is partnering with Nvidia to deploy it.
Vera is designed to process tokens as fast as possible, unlike classic cloud CPUs optimized to run multiple application instances simultaneously. Huang explained that while AI model 'thinking' uses GPUs, agents mostly run on CPUs to execute their assigned tasks and will run their own form of CPU-driven PCs.
Huang reported that Nvidia has already sold $20 billion worth of standalone Vera CPUs this year. He projected that the world will have billions of agents in the future, each using tools like PCs, requiring significantly more CPUs than are currently needed.
