Google launches YouTube Shorts Remix feature using Gemini Omni to let users restyle or alter other creators' videos

Google announced a new YouTube Shorts Remix feature that lets users restyle clips or insert themselves into other people's videos using Gemini Omni, a generative AI model. When clicking the remix icon on a YouTube Short, users can click 'reimagine' to prompt Gemini to transform a video into pixel art, anime, or found-footage horror film, or alter contents such as inflating heads, inserting background actors, dressing people in costumes, or placing themselves in the clip.

Creators can enable or disable the ability to reimagine videos on their uploads. Shorts remixed through Omni will display a digital watermark and link back to the original video.

The feature is rolling out now as part of YouTube's integration with Gemini Omni capabilities.
