Martin Scorsese signs on as partner and adviser to AI image-generation startup Black Forest Labs, using the technology for storyboarding

Martin Scorsese has partnered with Black Forest Labs, an AI image-generation startup headquartered in Freiburg, Germany. He is using the tool to create storyboards and communicate his vision to cinematographers and production designers more quickly.

Black Forest Labs powers image features inside Adobe, Canva, Microsoft, and Meta. The 70-person company was last valued at $3.25 billion and was founded by the team behind Stable Diffusion.

The partnership signals a shift in Hollywood's stance on AI technology. Scorsese's involvement comes after the startup declined to partner with Elon Musk's xAI in recent months following earlier collaboration concerns about content safeguards on Grok's image generator.
