North Korea tests tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and artillery rockets under Kim Jong Un's supervision

North Korea conducted tests of tactical ballistic missiles, long-range multiple-launch artillery rockets, and AI-guided tactical cruise missiles, according to the official Korean Central News Agency on Wednesday. The tests assessed a 'special mission warhead' on the ballistic missiles, the reliability of the artillery rockets, and the accuracy of the cruise missiles.

The cruise missiles are equipped with precision navigation and AI-guided control (a system that uses artificial intelligence to automatically adjust targeting) and can strike targets at 100 kilometers. These weapons are designed to be deployed at artillery units near the border with South Korea.

North Korea stated the upgraded weapons and automated launch systems have been successfully modified to 'suit the proper conditions of modern warfare so as to enhance their application to combat.' Central Seoul, South Korea's capital, is well within 100 km of the Demilitarized Zone border with the North.

North Korea has supplied Russia with ballistic missiles and artillery rockets since late 2023 for use in the war against Ukraine; the use of those weapons is believed to have given Pyongyang valuable battlefield data for its arsenal.
