SpaceX has locked in the right to purchase Cursor, an AI-powered coding tool startup, for $60 billion. Cursor is a code editor (similar to VS Code) that uses AI to auto-complete code, suggest fixes, and explain functions as developers type—reducing the time spent writing boilerplate code and debugging.

Unlike generic AI chatbots, Cursor is built specifically for programmers: it understands the codebase a developer is working in, suggests the next 5–10 lines of code in context, and integrates directly into the editor workflow.
