Amazon Quick now works inside Microsoft 365 apps without extra setup

Amazon Quick, AWS's enterprise AI assistant, is now available as native extensions inside Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The extensions are generally available today at no additional cost for customers on Plus, Professional, or Enterprise Quick plans.

These are not chatbots added to Office or standalone applications requiring users to work elsewhere. Instead, they are agentic—the AI assistant takes action directly within the document, spreadsheet, presentation, or email. In Word, the extension opens as a persistent side panel on the ribbon. Users ask a question or give an instruction, and the agent works within the application context. The agent can find and replace text, insert sections, and reformat content, then display a visual comparison of changes. Every edit is tracked as an audit trail with selectable references back to the affected content, and conversation history is preserved across sessions. In Excel, the extension retrieves data from cloud storage, data warehouses, Amazon QuickSight, Salesforce, or SharePoint, identifies inconsistencies, cleans formatting issues, and transforms data into analysis-ready formats. Users can ask the agent to analyze anomalies, pull data into new tabs, explain complex formulas with traced dependencies, or create charts comparing actual and forecast values. In Word, the extension acts as a co-editor that respects existing document structure and formatting. It can generate tables and visualizations from QuickSight dashboards, build executive summaries referencing Salesforce metrics or Jira project updates, and weave quantitative data from multiple sources into narrative documents. In Outlook, the extension automatically understands email and meeting context—subject, sender, recipients, thread history, timestamps—and drafts replies, new messages, or reply-all with full thread awareness across Outlook, Gmail, and Apple Mail. It can add recipients, include attachments, schedule sends, flag and categorize messages, summarize threads, and extract action items, pulling Salesforce accounts, QuickSight metrics, and Jira tickets into email responses.

Installation requires no client-side software. Administrators can deploy the extensions to targeted users through the Microsoft 365 admin center using a standard manifest, or users can install them directly through the Microsoft add-in store by searching for "Quick." Updates ship automatically without IT intervention. Outlook typically requires admin approval due to Graph API permission restrictions. Authentication uses Quick's native model with no separate Entra app, allowing sign-in via enterprise credentials or social login (Google, Apple) for Free or Plus plan users. The extensions are available across seven AWS Regions—US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Europe (Ireland), Europe (London), Europe (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo)—with full data residency controls and fully isolated backend infrastructure. No additional configuration is required; existing Quick Spaces, dashboards, and integrations (Salesforce, Jira, Slack, SharePoint, and more) are immediately available and inherit existing permissions and security policies.
