Anthropic launches new legal plugins and model connectors for Claude, expanding its law-focused offering amid competition from Harvey and Legora

Anthropic announced Tuesday that it is launching new chatbot features for Claude for Legal, including legal plugins and MCP connectors (tools that link Claude to external data sources and software) designed for specific areas of law such as commercial, privacy, corporate, employment, product, and AI governance.

The new tools integrate Claude with software applications already used by law firms — document management platforms like DocuSign, file search services like Box, and legal research sites like Thomson Reuters' Westlaw — to automate clerical functions including document search and review, case law resources, deposition prep, and document drafting.

The competition for legal AI services is active: Harvey raised $200 million at a valuation of $11 billion in March, and Legora raised $600 million in a Series D last month and launched a high-profile ad campaign.

The new connectors and plugins are being made available to all paying Claude customers. The features build upon other legal plugins the company launched in February.
