Vodafone launches AI and cybersecurity tools for small businesses through $1 billion Google Cloud partnership

Vodafone announced two new services for its small business customers, powered by a $1 billion strategic deal with Google Cloud signed in October 2024: a managed threat detection service (using Google Security Operations) to catch cyberattacks, and an AI assistant called Vodafone Business AI Concierge (powered by Google Gemini) that answers customer questions and books appointments automatically.

The AI concierge works differently from standard chatbots — it's an agent (an AI that makes decisions and takes actions on its own) that can engage with a small business's customers directly, answering inquiries and completing bookings without human staff involvement, rather than just providing information.

Small business owners now have access to enterprise-grade cybersecurity (threat detection that catches sophisticated attacks faster) and customer service automation without building these systems in-house or paying for separate vendors — both bundled through their existing Vodafone relationship.
