Alphabet is committing $15 billion to build a new Google data center complex in Missouri focused on AI and cloud computing infrastructure, with advanced cooling systems aimed at reducing water use and programs tied to energy affordability.

Google is contracting over 1 gigawatt of new generation and co-developing more than 500 megawatts with Ameren, effectively pre-paying for energy and grid upgrades that its data centers will depend on through a Capacity Commitment Framework (a structure where large customers shoulder costs tied to their usage).

The Missouri project represents one track of Alphabet's multi-track approach to scaling AI workloads; separately, Alphabet has an AI data center venture with Blackstone that operates as a compute-as-a-service platform backed by external capital.
