Akamai Q1 revenue grew 6% year-over-year to $1.074 billion, driven by Cloud Infrastructure Services growth of 40% and a landmark $1.8 billion seven-year customer commitment for AI infrastructure.

Akamai announced a $1.8 billion seven-year commitment from a leading frontier model company for Cloud Infrastructure Services—described as the largest customer deal in the company's history. Revenue from this deal is expected to begin ramping in Q4 2026, contributing approximately $20 million to $25 million in that quarter.

Cloud Infrastructure Services revenue reached $95 million, up 40% year-over-year, as the company deploys what CEO Tom Leighton called the "industry's first global scale implementation of NVIDIA's AI Grid" and thousands of NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 GPUs to push AI inference (the step where an AI produces an answer) closer to end users and reduce latency.

Security revenue grew 11% year-over-year to $590 million, driven by demand for Web Application Firewall, API Security, and Guardicore Segmentation (network isolation technology). Leighton cited increasing vulnerability to advanced AI-driven attacks, including bot armies, as a key driver of customer urgency.

To support the $1.8 billion deal, Akamai expects to spend approximately $800 million to $825 million of capital expenditures over the next 12 months, with about $700 million deployed in the second half of 2026 and the remainder in the first half of 2027. Management now expects total company annual revenue growth to reach double digits in 2027.
