Tempus Paige tools land in Leica's Aperio AI Store

The Aperio AI Store launched in the U.S. in October 2025, and Leica Biosystems frames this addition as roughly one year into that effort. According to Naveen Chandra, Vice President and General Manager of Digital Pathology at Leica Biosystems, the store is helping move AI in digital pathology from individual applications toward a more connected and scalable experience.

The structure matters here. Rather than building every algorithm in-house, Leica is curating partner applications — in this case from Tempus, which acquired the Paige offerings — and delivering them inside a workflow pathologists already use. Razik Yousfi, senior vice president and general manager of AI products at Tempus, said the collaboration embeds the Paige offerings into the Aperio HALO AP software ecosystem to make advanced image analysis more accessible for oncology research.

The research-use-only framing is the key limitation, and it is likely to shape how quickly these tools reach routine practice; Leica's own materials note the Aperio HALO AP software is CE-IVDR marked in the EU but for research use only in the USA. Whether the store's curated-partner model becomes the default way labs buy computational pathology tools may hinge on how many additional vendors Leica can bring into the same interface.
