Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang identifies engineering as the career path most critical to thrive in the AI era, citing the role engineers play in advancing transformative technology

At IEEE's awards ceremony last Friday, Huang—Nvidia's cofounder and CEO—stated that AI will reshape every job, eliminating some while creating new ones, but emphasized that engineers will be especially critical in advancing AI safely and beneficially for society.

Huang pointed to engineering's historical role in previous industrial revolutions, arguing that engineers 'take an invention and advance it in such a way that it's safe, beneficial, ultimately transformative to society.'

Employment across engineering disciplines, including electrical, electronics, and computer hardware, is expected to grow faster than the national average according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, with demand driven by AI, energy, and defense sectors converging alongside retirements and immigration headwinds.
