What happened
Blue M Securities announced Wealth Advisor AI, which prepares draft proposals covering asset allocation, candidate securities and volumes, simulations and stress tests, using meeting notes and client account data the advisor has checked.
Why it matters
The company says an advisor who moved from a major IFA firm went from under 5 documents a month to about 30, so advisors may spend more time on dialogue and judgment.
What to watch
The AI does not propose to clients directly; advisors verify and revise every draft, and consistent calculations such as risk-return and simulations use predefined models rather than the generative AI. Notification and automatic account-data linking are planned.
WHO IT HITSIt lands on wealth advisors and the clients they can realistically serve, particularly households with tens of millions of yen in assets who previously fell below the 5–10億 threshold for hands-on wealth management.

Blue M Securities' move is framed less around replacing advisors than around fixing their economics. Wealth management is labor-intensive: each client needs asset status and meeting content organized, a policy considered and an individual proposal drafted, which caps how many clients one advisor can handle. That has tended to push hands-on service toward very wealthy clients.
The company cites a shift in the potential base. Nomura Research Institute estimates households with net financial assets of 5,000万円 or more rose 36.9%, from 415.9万 households in 2013 to 569.2万 in 2023. Blue M points to people with substantial assets who have had few chances for real consultation, and says that where 5–10億-plus clients were the main customers, an AI advisor could make the service feasible from tens of millions of yen.
The design reflects caution as much as ambition. Consistent tasks such as risk-return calculations and simulations use predefined models, with generative AI handling the organizing and analysis of large amounts of client information, and advisors still checking and correcting every draft. Whether this scales the advisor's reach without diluting advice appears to hinge on that review step holding up, and on planned features such as notifications when account changes occur before the next meeting and automatic account-data linking.
