Google brought Gemini 4 Argon to Gemini app Pro and Ultra subscribers, two weeks after it went first to vetted cybersecurity defenders. Subscribers also get a tasks mode that keeps Gemini working after they step away from the computer.
Why it matters
Google says Argon answers more directly with less hedging, and the tasks mode lets subscribers hand off longer jobs.
WHO IT HITSGoogle's Pro and Ultra subscribers who use the Gemini app get access to Argon and the tasks mode, but the tasks mode is limited to select countries for now and Argon is still rolling out to Pro subscribers.

Google's rollout of Gemini 4 Argon has moved in stages. The model went first to vetted cybersecurity defenders, and two weeks later it reached Gemini app users on the Pro and Ultra subscription plans. That sequencing puts the most restricted audience first and the paying consumer base second, with Argon still rolling out to Pro subscribers.
The tasks mode is the piece that changes what subscribers can do with the app. It runs on top of more than 40 connected apps, which is illustrated with a grocery order through Instacart or a table booked on OpenTable, and Adobe Inc. and Shopify Inc. are on the list for people designing or running a business. Google says the tasks mode is limited to select countries for now.
Beyond the app, the same release extends to developers and researchers. Koray Kavukcuoglu, chief AI architect at Google, wrote that developers anywhere can build on Argon through the paid tier of the Gemini application programming interface, with introductory rates of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens holding until Nov. 30 before doubling to $4 and $20. Up to 10,000 scientists can apply for six months of free access to the highest usage tier in Antigravity, and cybersecurity teams wanting Argon without its cyber guardrails still apply through the Fairwind Program.
