NVIDIA and Lenovo deploy AI quality inspectors across global factories—computer vision and robots now spot defects in real production lines

Lenovo and NVIDIA rolled out AI-powered inspection systems and autonomous robots across Lenovo's manufacturing plants worldwide. The system uses computer vision (cameras that identify visual defects), edge AI (processing that happens locally at the factory, not in the cloud), and digital twins (virtual copies of factory operations) to catch quality problems and manage materials flow in active production.

Unlike inspection software that flags images for humans to review, this system automatically detects defects and directs robots to fix or remove bad parts—no human review loop needed. The setup works across multiple international factories at once, meaning a single defect pattern caught in one plant trains the system to spot it everywhere.
