OpenAI launches DeployCo, a consulting subsidiary funded with more than four billion dollars, to embed AI systems into enterprise workflows using Palantir's Forward Deployed Engineer model.

OpenAI created DeployCo, a majority-controlled subsidiary, with investment from 19 partners led by TPG and including Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield. The company acquired British consulting firm Tomoro, bringing around 150 Forward Deployed Engineers and deployment specialists into the new unit.

DeployCo deploys engineers directly at client sites to customize AI integrations into business processes, data pipelines, and compliance structures—a model borrowed from Palantir's approach in the data analytics space. The subsidiary operates independently but receives early access to upcoming OpenAI model capabilities, while ChatGPT Enterprise continues as a separate horizontal licensing product.

The venture addresses model commoditization by layering consulting and integration revenue on top of token revenue, creating switching costs through deep architectural lock-in. The unit taps more than 2,000 portfolio companies from investment partners as potential customers and plans to grow through additional acquisitions.
