Vertiv launches Rack Extreme, a new data center cabinet designed to handle heavier AI and HPC server loads while maintaining strength during movement.

What happened: Vertiv, a power and cooling systems vendor, introduced Vertiv Rack Extreme, a rack platform engineered for AI and high-performance computing deployments. The cabinets can handle static and dynamic load ratings of up to 4,500 lbs (2,045 kg), and feature fully welded construction, integrated airflow, and cable management.

Why it matters: Data centers running AI and HPC systems require infrastructure that can support heavier, denser equipment while remaining flexible and easy to install at scale. By maintaining the same load capacity whether the rack is stationary or being moved—delivering up to 2x higher dynamic capacity and up to 1.3x higher static capacity compared to traditional designs—Vertiv Rack Extreme addresses a practical bottleneck that data center operators face.
