Comau and Aptiv partner to co-develop next-generation intelligent automation solutions combining robotics expertise with edge computing and sensor technology

Industrial automation specialist Comau is collaborating with technology company Aptiv to evaluate joint development in advanced robotics, autonomous systems, and automated warehouse and logistics systems.

The partnership combines Aptiv's Wind River edge platforms, Aptiv Pulse sensor and interconnect solutions with Comau's robotics expertise and large-scale industrial deployment experience. Initial focus areas include perception solutions for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and Collaborative Robots (CoBots), AI-enabled logistics software enhancement, ruggedized connectors for robotic applications, and radar and vision-based industrial safety systems.

The collaboration builds on Comau's existing use of Wind River's VxWorks in its industrial controllers and Comau robots in Aptiv manufacturing facilities, with the goal of extending the relationship across Aptiv's broader perception, compute, sensing, and interconnect solutions.
