Amp CEO Quinn Slack says OpenAI models account for the majority of tokens used in Amp, and some users consume 10 billion tokens a week.
Why it matters
Amp's bet on OpenAI models shapes what its agent can do, and token costs can constrain how much work builders let it take on.

Amp's approach is to pick models case by case, but CEO Quinn Slack says OpenAI models make up the majority of the tokens its users consume. That gives the company a strong reason to keep expanding what its agent can do as the models it relies on improve, from deciding what to build through writing code and designing pages.
Slack describes a shift in how builders use agents as costs fall. If users watch every increment of usage, he says, they may hold back from letting an agent take on a larger task. Amp's Sign in with ChatGPT integration is aimed at that constraint, and Slack says it changes how willing users are to hand over a bigger job.
The company's own 20-person team already works this way, including in marketing, where Slack says an agent rather than a dedicated hire handles work on new-user experience and discovery. Amp's stated next step is to fold more of the work before and after coding into the agent itself, so that builders can carry an idea further without handling every step themselves.
