Broadcom, Applied Materials, Meta, GlobalFoundries, and Synopsys partner with UCLA to launch a $125 million Semiconductor Hub for AI chip research and workforce development.

Five companies announced a five-year partnership with UCLA Samueli School of Engineering to create a $125 million Semiconductor Hub combining financial backing and in-kind support across chip design, manufacturing, software, packaging, advanced materials, and cloud infrastructure.

The hub will focus on high-risk, high-reward research to tackle long-term semiconductor challenges while shortening the path from research to commercialization, and will help train future engineering talent in AI-powered chip technologies.

UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk stated the partnership positions UCLA to help scale semiconductor innovation while strengthening U.S. economic competitiveness and national security.
