Google rolled out Gemini 3.1 to Google Home smart speakers, initially available to early access users. The model was released on other platforms in February but this marks its expansion to Home devices.
Gemini 3.1 can now process multiple different tasks in a single voice prompt, allowing users to execute complex, multi-step commands without breaking them into separate instructions. The model showed improvements in reasoning-based tests like ARC-AGI-2 and Humanity's Last Exam.
Google is expanding the Ask Home conversational chatbot feature beyond the mobile app to a web interface, where users will be able to check camera history and create automations. This will initially roll out as a preview feature.
The update also includes easier camera feed navigation and more straightforward AI event labeling for smart home devices.
