Apple to unveil Gemini-powered Siri redesign at WWDC, placing it across Dynamic Island, Photos, and potentially a dedicated app

At WWDC on Monday, Apple is preparing to reintroduce a new Siri built on top of Gemini. According to Bloomberg's reporting, the redesigned assistant may appear in the Dynamic Island, Photos, and possibly its own dedicated Siri app for the first time.

This marks Apple's second attempt to launch an AI-enhanced Siri after the 2024 Apple Intelligence rollout promised features that never shipped, leading to a class-action lawsuit settlement. The company may emphasize privacy protections such as Private Cloud Compute and options to automatically delete chats after a certain period.

By outsourcing to Gemini rather than building independently, Apple distances itself from the data center construction projects and ubiquitous AI features that have generated public backlash against Google and Microsoft. The new Siri will surface more aggressively than the current timer-focused voice assistant that mostly operates behind the scenes.
