What happened
On 2026年10月6日, Panasonic Connect announced "AI定期巡回" for its Cameleo cloud camera service, with availability from 2026年12月. Setup uses text prompts, and image analysis runs at intervals as short as 10分間隔.
Why it matters
It targets work people now do on foot—清掃チェック, 売場確認, 設備点検 and monitoring of public infrastructure like 河川. Manager notifications by email with the judged image mean staff may not need to visit the site.
WHO IT HITSField supervisors and store operations staff who run recurring inspection rounds—such as convenience store managers and facility maintenance teams—could automate part of their checks, though the results have so far been verified only in a trial at three convenience store locations.

Cameleo is Panasonic Connect's service for using on-site camera footage remotely: video is recorded to the cloud and watched from a PC, smartphone or tablet, and an API lets accumulated data feed external systems and SaaS. AI定期巡回 plugs generative AI into that already-cloud-based pipeline, so the new part is the recurring prompt-driven judgment rather than the capture itself.
Rather than analyzing continuously, the feature works on still images captured each cycle, and can compare them against a reference image to judge whether conditions match an intended state. If it detects an abnormality or something needing confirmation, it emails the judge-time image, so the administrator can grasp the situation without going to the site. Some uses come with ready-made prompt templates.
The claimed benefits come from a trial that began in 2025 at three convenience stores, ahead of the December 2026 launch. There, AI extracted stores and sales floors needing improvement and supported specific corrective guidance. One illustration: for a key product with a 10 a.m. order deadline, the system detected a stockout at 9 a.m. and let the manager place an additional order before the cutoff—an issue previously caught only on a store visit or in daily sales figures.
