Google launches Gemini 3.5 and Gemini Omni models with agentic capabilities across search, Android, and new hardware at May 2026 events

Google announced Gemini 3.5—a family of models combining frontier intelligence with action-taking capabilities for complex, multi-step agentic workflows—and Gemini Omni, a model that can create high-quality videos from combined images, audio, video and text inputs grounded in real-world knowledge.

The Gemini app now acts as a proactive helper featuring an intuitive new UI, personalized daily briefs and Gemini Spark; Search introduces information agents that monitor information 24/7 and send detailed updates, plus agentic coding capabilities to build generative UI and interactive visuals; Android Halo is a new phone space to manage agents and receive contextual assistance.

Google revealed new hardware built for these tools: Googlebook (a laptop designed from the ground up for Gemini Intelligence, to be made by partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo); Fitbit Air (a small pebble-sized tracker with 24/7 heart rate, heart rhythm monitoring with Afib alerts, SpO2, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and sleep tracking); and upcoming intelligent eyewear for directions, texts and photos without taking out your phone.

Universal Cart is a new shopping hub that works across merchants and services, letting users add items while browsing Search, chatting with Gemini, watching YouTube or reading Gmail.
