Meta launches Style Sketch AI fashion app in 3 Asian markets

Meta's decision to launch Style Sketch quietly, and only in three Southeast Asian markets, fits a pattern: the company has released a string of AI apps in recent months, including Waddle World, Pocket, and Vibes. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees Meta plans to release far more apps than it has historically, as AI-driven efficiencies have made it faster and easier to ship new apps. Style Sketch is a direct expression of that strategy, shipped with little fanfare and limited to a few countries.

The app enters a space where startups like Alta and even Google Photos already offer tools to digitize wardrobes and create new outfit ideas. Meta will likely rely less on the novelty of the idea and more on the app's integration with Instagram, where users already have a visual record of their personal style. That integration could give Style Sketch an advantage in onboarding, since it can pull from existing photos rather than requiring users to photograph each item.

Beyond basic outfit suggestions, the app also plans trips: entering a destination, trip length, and planned activities yields a day-by-day outfit plan that takes the weather forecast and itinerary into account. Meta did not respond to TechCrunch's request for comment, and it's unknown whether the company plans to launch Style Sketch more widely.
