Anthropic raises $65 billion at $965 billion valuation in Series H round

Anthropic secured $65 billion in funding at a $965 billion post-money valuation. The Series H round was co-led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, Capital Group, Coatue, and D1 Capital Partners, with participation from institutional investors including Baillie Gifford, Blackstone, Brookfield, D.E. Shaw Ventures, DST Global, and Fidelity Management & Research. Strategic infrastructure partners Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron also joined; $15 billion of the round comprises previously committed investments from hyperscalers, including $5 billion from Amazon announced in April.

Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.8, offering improved capabilities in agentic tasks (self-directed AI work), advanced coding, and focus on honesty and self-correction. The company plans to use the new funds to advance safety and interpretability research, expand compute capacity, and scale products and partnerships.

Anthropic's run rate revenue crossed $47 billion earlier this month, and the company expects a 130% revenue surge to bring it to its first operating profit. The company has seen increased growth particularly among enterprise customers using Claude Code.
