Apple announced at WWDC 2026 that its Photos app is getting new AI editing features including Reframe, Extend, and an upgraded Cleanup tool powered by Apple Intelligence.

Apple announced at WWDC 2026 on Monday that Photos is gaining a spatial "Reframe" feature that uses AI to adjust image perspective—letting users touch and drag to reposition the camera viewpoint as if they had moved when taking the original shot, with real-time preview and generative infill at the edges.

The app also adds an "Extend" tool that expands images by pinching to zoom out or adjusting the crop, and upgrades the "Cleanup" tool to remove distractions with better quality infill using generative AI (a model that creates new image content).

The Reframe feature only generates new content in the gaps created by perspective adjustment, ensuring the edited photo remains consistent with the original scene.
