Nxera Pharma joins OpenFold AI research consortium to advance drug discovery using open-source AI tools

Nxera Pharma announced on 10 June 2026 that it has joined OpenFold, a non-profit AI research consortium that develops open-source AI software tools for biology and drug discovery. The consortium includes technology companies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, NVIDIA) and pharmaceutical companies (Bristol Myers Squibb, Novo Nordisk, Bayer, Roche).

Nxera participates as a user of OpenFold's open-source tools and is not required to contribute proprietary data or intellectual property. The company aims to evaluate state-of-the-art structural prediction models, conduct GPCR target-focused performance evaluations, and integrate consortium tools with its proprietary NxWave™ platform, which combines GPCR structure-based drug discovery, computational chemistry, and AI approaches.

Nxera's participation aligns with the company's policy to enhance R&D productivity through AI technologies, as presented at its 36th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held on 25 March 2026. The initiative supports the company's strategy to accelerate progress from target validation to clinical development with optimized drug candidates.
